We take a covenant approach to membership.
More than a box to check or a status to obtain, church membership involves a conscious commitment to a specific context: a people, a place, and a purpose. As Scripture states, each local church has a unique role to play in the Body, the universal Church (1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 27; Romans 12:4-5). All are welcome to call Harris Creek "home," but as a local manifestation of the Body of Christ, we recognize that not everyone will agree with our approach to ministry; in fact, we are glad that there are some great churches in town with different approaches to sharing the Gospel.
A covenant involves a mutual agreement, so there are some things you can expect of us as well as a few expectations we have for covenant members. With Harris Creek, you can expect:
- an articulated mission,
- principles to guide us,
- good-natured humor and fun,
- and an approach to ministry focused on making disciples who are making disciples.
Our covenant members respect the vision of our leadership and support the opportunities of the church based upon gifts and interests. Membership includes:
- involvement in a Life Group,
- service in the church,
- service as the church in the greater community,
- discipleship efforts towards the next generation,
- and financial commitment.
In short, every member is ACTIVE in ministry.
