A regular meeting of the elders of Harris Creek Baptist Church was called to order June 14th, 2017, at 6:30 a.m. Brad Lail, Chair, presided. A quorum was present. In attendance were Blair Browning, Brady Herbert, P. Michael Smith, Jim Underwood, Kevin Jackson, and Mark Welstead. Also in attendance were Drew Greenway, Rebecca Harris, Trent Horner, Joey White, and Jon Green.
Brad Lail opened the meeting in prayer.
The minutes from the May 10th meeting were reviewed and approved.
Joey White gave a brief overview of the May financials for the church as well as provided an overview of the church's progress with Our Turn. He also described the payment process between Harris Creek and our contractor, K4. The invoices rout through our architect to ensure accountability.
Joey White and Rebecca Harris discussed creating a social media policy for our staff. We looked at best practices and discussed everything from official church communication that derives from a church "sponsored" social media platform (i.e. Harris Creek Youth on Instagram) to communication that stems from church staff's personal social media platforms. There is not a desire to micromanage and at the same time, there is a big responsibility attached when you are a part of the Harris Creek staff.
Joey White discussed personnel ideas with the departure of Matt Steen who has served Harris Creek with excellence over the past couple of years. Matt is departing for an Executive Pastor role and will thus leave a void that must be filled in our operations. Joey will initially manage these responsibilities as we continue to have conversation about future personnel decisions.
Brady Herbert talked about options and opportunities with Welcome Back Sunday in August. We are waiting on cost numbers from a couple of venues. Our priority is that the first Sunday back energizes our core, casts a vision for the church, but also for the upcoming year, and that it attracts and welcomes back students (as well as new families). We will continue to discuss this item.
Brady Herbert provided multiple signposts as we closed.
Multiple prayer requests and praises were given and Blair Browning closed in prayer.
