MInutes of the Board of Elders - July 2, 2014

July 16, 2014

A regular meeting of the elders of Harris Creek Baptist Church was called to order on July 2, 2014, at 6:30 a.m. Graham Cook, Chair, presided. A quorum was present. In attendance were Graham Cook, Bill Killian, Stefan LeRow, Mark Welstead, P. Michael Smith, Brad Lail, and Bo Routh. In addition, Joey White, Executive Pastor, was in attendance.

Mark Welstead led a devotional about the topic of worry from Philippians 4 and Matthew 6, and his experiences growing up, and opened the meeting in prayer.

The minutes of the June 18, 2014, meeting were approved as presented.

Joey White reviewed the church's financial reports for the month of June.

Joey White led a discussion regarding the upcoming Generis audit.

Joey White led a discussion regarding the campus pastor role at Harris Creek.

The elders discussed church campuses, generally, and the possibility of additional campuses at some point in the future. Graham Cook, Joey White, and Bo Routh volunteered to participate on a team to study and pray about this further.

The needs of the body were discussed and the meeting closed in prayer.

MInutes of the Board of Elders - June 4, 2014

July 8, 2014

A regular meeting of the elders of Harris Creek Baptist Church was called to order on June 4, 2014, at 6:30 a.m. Graham Cook, Chair, presided. A quorum was present. In attendance were Graham Cook, Bob Howard, Brady Herbert, Bill Killian, Stefan LeRow, Mark Welstead, P. Michael Smith, Brad Lail, and Bo Routh. In addition, Joey White, Executive Pastor, was in attendance.

Brady Herbert led a devotional from Mark 4 (the parable of the mustard seed) and his experiences growing up, and opened the meeting in prayer.

The minutes of the May 21, 2014, meeting were approved with one correction.

Joey White reviewed the church's financial reports for the month of May.

Joey White led a discussion regarding weekly and quarterly dashboard metrics for the church.

Brady Herbert led a discussion regarding the worship schedule for Fall 2014.

Brady Herbert gave a report regarding Lance Witt's recent visit to Harris Creek and discussed preliminary planning for an off-site retreat for elders.

The needs of the body were discussed and the meeting closed in prayer.

MInutes of the Board of Elders - June 18, 2014

July 8, 2014

A regular meeting of the elders of Harris Creek Baptist Church was called to order on June 18, 2014, at 6:30 a.m. Graham Cook, Chair, presided. A quorum was present. In attendance were Graham Cook, Bob Howard, Brady Herbert, Stefan LeRow, P. Michael Smith and Brad Lail. In addition, Joey White, Executive Pastor, and Drew Greenway, Worship and Arts Pastor, were in attendance.

Joey White led a devotional from Mark 10 and challenged all in attendance on to engage someone outside of HC with the message of hope. He opened the meeting in prayer.

The minutes of the June 4th, 2014, meeting were approved with no corrections.

Brady Herbert led a discussion regarding the worship schedule for Fall 2014.

Bob Howard gave a report on New Beginning House of Worship. Attendance is holding at 38 on a weekly basis and the financial picture has continued to improve. HC is committing to support them at the same commitment through the next quarter.

Joey White gave an update on the 2014-2015 ministry plan.

Brady Herbert discussed the upcoming visit with Lance Witt. He also solicited participation from the elders for the Generis generosity audit scheduled for 7/14.

The needs of the body were discussed and the meeting closed in prayer.

June 4, 2014

A regular meeting of the elders of Harris Creek Baptist Church was called to order on April 30, 2014, at 6:30 a.m. Graham Cook, Chair, presided. A quorum was present. In attendance were Graham Cook, Brady Herbert, Bill Killian, Stefan LeRow, Mark Welstead, P. Michael Smith, Brad Lail, and Bo Routh. In addition, Joey White, Executive Pastor, was in attendance.

Brad Lail led a devotional about marriage, faith, and ministering to others from Romans 8:17-18 and opened the meeting in prayer.

The minutes of the April 16, 2014, meeting were approved as presented.

Joey White reviewed the church's financial reports for the month of April.

Brady Herbert led a discussion regarding paid time off (PTO) and family leave for part-time staff employees. The elders approved updates to the employee handbook at Harris Creek to allow pro-rated PTO (regular and new child/adoption PTO) for exempt part-time staff employees.

Brady Herbert provided an update concerning church staff generally.

Joey White led a discussion regarding a proposal from Generis to perform an analysis of giving and giving potential at Harris Creek.

The needs of the body were discussed and the meeting closed in prayer.

MInutes of the Board of Elders - May 21, 2014

June 4, 2014

A regular meeting of the Elders of Harris Creek Baptist Church was called to order on May 21, 2014, at 6:30 a.m. Graham Cook, Chair, presided. A quorum was present. In attendance were Graham Cook, Bob Howard, Brady Herbert, Bill Killian, Stefan LeRow, P. Michael Smith, Brad Lail, Mark Welstead, and Bo Routh. In addition, the following members of the church Executive Team staff were in attendance: Christin Peel, Drew Greenway, Galan Hughes, and Joey White.

Graham Cook led a devotional about "God as provider" and related faith impressions and experiences from his family growing up. During this next round of devotionals, the elders will each focus on faith impressions and a personal experience from early on that shaped our faith. Graham opened the meeting in prayer.

The minutes of the April 30, 2014, meeting were approved as presented.

Brady Herbert led a discussion regarding staffing adjustments, specifically Chelsey Anderson moving to 40 hours per week and working every Sunday. The elders approved this adjustment.

Joey White led a discussion concerning the church's multi-site efforts and reviewed a Leadership Network matrix concerning objectives, planning, and staff responsibilities for a multi-site environment at Harris Creek.

Joey White led a discussion regarding a proposal from Generis to perform an analysis of giving and giving potential at Harris Creek. The elders approved engaging Generis to perform the analysis and one day audit.

Brady Herbert led a discussion regarding the creation of an Ordination Team at Harris Creek that would be tasked with meeting with potential ordination candidates to discuss theology and related issues. The elders approved the creation of the Ordination Team comprised of Brady Herbert, Graham Cook, Bob Howard, Brad Lail, and Galan Hughes.

The needs of the body were discussed and the meeting closed in prayer.

MInutes of the Board of Elders - April 16, 2014

April 30, 2014

A regular meeting of the Elders of Harris Creek Baptist Church was called to order on April 16, 2014, at 6:30 a.m. Graham Cook, Chair, presided. A quorum was present. In attendance were Graham Cook, Bob Howard, Brady Herbert, Bill Killian, Stefan LeRow, P. Michael Smith, Brad Lail, Mark Welstead, and Bo Routh. In addition, the following members of the church Executive Team staff were in attendance: Christin Peel, Drew Greenway, Galan Hughes, and Joey White.

P. Michael Smith led a devotional about "saints and semi-saints" from Finding God in Unexpected Places by Philip Yancey. He opened the meeting in prayer.

The minutes of the April 2, 2014, meeting were approved as presented.

Joey White led a discussion concerning the church's multi-site efforts, attendance statistics from the Sunwest Campus and the Downtown Campus, worship times, ministries, and related planning and staffing issues. The elders unanimously agreed that further efforts should be made to support and grow the Downtown Campus.

Bob Howard gave an update regarding New Beginnings House of Worship, a small new congregation in East Waco that Harris Creek is helping to sponsor as it seeks entry into the Waco Regional Baptist Association. A number of positive developments have occurred in this congregation over the past several months.

Brady Herbert gave an update concerning the first leadership development group that met with church staff and elders on a recurring basis over the past three months. The elders approved the creation of a second group to meet with church staff and elders over the next three months.

Brady Herbert gave an update concerning Leadership Network.

A regular meeting of the elders of Harris Creek Baptist Church was called to order on April 2, 2014, at 6:30 a.m. Graham Cook, Chair, presided. A quorum was present. In addition, Kelly Merritt, Finance Director, was in attendance for part of the meeting.

Bob Howard led a devotional about "creating value" from 2 Thessalonians 3 and opened the meeting in prayer.

Kelly Merritt reviewed the church's financial reports for the month of March.

The minutes of the March 19, 2014, meeting were approved as presented.

Brady Herbert led a discussion regarding the church's multi-site efforts, attendance statistics from the Sunwest Campus and the Downtown Campus, worship times, ministries, and related planning and staffing issues.

Brady Herbert led a discussion concerning Community Day and planning and budgeting for other upcoming events this year.
