Adopt-A-School Program

Harris Creek participates in the Waco Independent School District's Adopt-A-School program and has partnered with Bell's Hill PDS Elementary School so that we will be able to deepen our church body's roots in the city of Waco.

Although there are a number of schools in Waco that are in need of partnerships, we purposefully chose Bell's Hill for a couple of reasons. To start with, Bell's Hill had many corporate partnerships, but did not have a church partnership when Harris Creek began serving the school in 2012. Now, Harris Creek is one of two church partnerships at Bells Hill pouring into a school that houses almost 900 children and 90 faculty members. Bells Hill Elementary is also the closest school in proximity to our Downtown Campus, located just 1.6 miles away. The location of this school will enable us to invest in the area of town that we are corporately worshiping in on a weekly basis.

This school partnership opportunity provides a number of ways for individuals, families, and Life Groups to seek the welfare of the city together.

ONgoing service opportunities:

  • Faculty meetings are held every Thursday afternoon at 3:30pm at the school. This is a great opportunity for 1-3 life groups to come together to provide a snack for the 90 faculty members during their meetings.
  • Morning greeters are needed from 7:05am - 7:50am to help kids transition smoothly from their cars into the school doors.
  • Requirement: approved Waco ISD Background Check
  • Volunteers for weekly afterschool clubs.
  • If you have 30 minutes during your lunchtime we would love for you to be a part of the "Reading Book Clubs" happening daily at the school. Education and relationships are two key components that can keep someone out of poverty. By spending 30 minutes one time each week with a group of 3 students in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th grades our goal is to encourage reading while building relationships.
